What can you request and appeal?
You have the right to see the documents in your own case — the application, the decision and minutes from interviews. The Migration Agency’s country reports and legal position papers are also public. A refusal of, for example, an asylum application can be appealed to the migration court.
Documents in someone else’s migration case, and information that could put an asylum seeker at risk, are covered by confidentiality and are not released.

Frequently asked questions
How long do I have to appeal a Migration Agency decision?
Usually three weeks from when you received the decision. The deadline is stated in the decision. If you miss it, the decision becomes final.
Can I request the documents in my own case?
Yes. You have the right to see the documents in your own migration case, except for information protected by confidentiality.
Can I submit new evidence with my appeal?
Yes, you can generally include new documents or information that support your case when you appeal, though it is best to explain clearly why this evidence is relevant and, if possible, why it was not submitted earlier.
Do I need a lawyer to appeal a Migration Agency decision?
Not necessarily for straightforward appeals, but in complex asylum or family reunification cases a public counsel (offentligt biträde) may be appointed or a private legal representative can help — Insyna gives guidance but does not replace legal representation in complex cases.
